SHS graduate crashed to death in Ashaiman
A 21 year old SHS graduate Love Atsu met her untimely death on Thursday in Ashaiman when a KIA truck with registration number ER 5112 X and loaded with cement blocks run over traders who were selling in front of 3G’s Medical Diagnostics Centre and killed her instantly.
The deceased who is said to have completed Jasikan SHS and come to Ashaiman only yesterday to stay with an auntie was allegedly sent to buy foodstuffs and phone credit when the unfortunate incident happened.
Six others also sustained varying degree of injuries and are currently seeking medical attention at the Tema Tema General Hospital.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to the press indicated that the truck had a brake failure stressing that the driver did his possible best to save the situation but all to no avail.
They said had the traders not occupied half of the road the truck would have hit only the pavement of the road.
They blamed the traders of returning to the streets despite being sacked from the streets sometime ago.
They called on the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly’s Chief Executive Albert Boakye Okyere to take the bull by the horn evict the traders from the streets to ensure free flow of traffic.
When news team visited Tema General Hospital, Ernest Nuuf Awinimi, manager in charge of the Accident Centre said the victims are in stable condition.
He, however said two of the victims may be given referral due to the critical nature of their condition.
